@lewis_goodall @kevinbonavia And retained £12B in EU fees (and every year after this)...which is double that. Plus that expenditure created work and jobs which leads to company tax, income tax, VAT from spending and which leads to another cycle.....James Moyies @JamesMoyies • 18 Jan 11:18 GMT
@lewis_goodall Have you noted the awful growth of this largest trade block?
What do you attribute it to?
How can leaving such a stagnant body be harmful.
@lewis_goodall It's a bit like turning us into a 21st Century East Germany, where we build a regulatory wall between ourselves & the rest of Europe, yet propagandise abt how wonderful life is on our side of the wall, inspite of universal disbelief, which of course becomes heretical & illegal.Paul Bibby @Paul63B • 18 Jan 11:08 GMT

@smarshallr @biscuitsgod @PoochOTron @lewis_goodall So you’re saying that the damage won’t be complete this year because there won’t be time for him to implement his proposals
But to be fair businesses will already be relocating out of the U.K. in anticipation and workers in their supply chains will be laid off this year
@lewis_goodall Ambitious? Good - this country has been crying out for leaders with some ambition. Even if you don't fully achieve the ambition, the act of trying will be beneficial.RhubarbCrumble @RhubarbCrumble5 • 18 Jan 10:37 GMT
@smarshallr @biscuitsgod @PoochOTron @lewis_goodall Great
So lower exports for our businesses and higher prices for our imports as special runs have to be done to meet our whimsically different for the sake of being different standards

That’s what we knew we were voting for
@lewis_goodall Are you still going on about brexit? how did your Labour Party do in the election?Michael Brown @mickfbrown • 18 Jan 10:34 GMT
@lewis_goodall Why is it that we've had to give up any hope of thinking that any journalist will sit these people down, ask them the right questions, and insist on getting straight answers?
They just don't believe they're accountable to anyone.
And with our press, they're not!
@lewis_goodall So #Sajid #Javid and #Boris, how are you going to deliver a tariff-free, quota-free trade deal with "our friends and partners in the #EU" when they've told you that the price of non-alignment will be friction in trade?
Just please don't tell me that you lied to all of us...
@eljefe_david_c @PeterMatza @CathLM @lewis_goodall And if we signs US FTA, does that make Tesla more or less likely to come to the UK? We have a lot of research going into next gen batteries in the UKGeeza. @romfordgeeza • 18 Jan 10:05 GMT

@lewis_goodall The EFTA and EEA advocates have been royally screwed over.
Brexit, the biggest heist ever committed.
@lewis_goodall @steverichards14 Huge level of ignorance @sajidjavid shown here. On cars Japan & EU are already closely aligned through strong commitment to @UNECE 1958 vehicle harmonisation agreement. US isn’t which is why trade deal with them on cars will be much more difficult. Steep learning curve ahead! https://t.co/80vtcjCMNSDavid Ward @DavidDjward • 18 Jan 09:28 GMT
@lewis_goodall We were told we were leaving the single marketMickey Demos @fizzy_head • 18 Jan 09:11 GMT
@lewis_goodall Outside the EU + their customs union, the very first things we can do is cut & paste existing trade arrangements & fill in these gaps.
We can also look at new trade deals, eg the US, but others too.
To be flexible enough to do this we must be outside of EU regulatory alignment.
@lewis_goodall @cazzrhughes Past State strategy: train the whole nation, especially businesses to keep their heads down and focus on compliance issues. When the State then switches tracks, trains to planes, chess to monopoly, playing their cards close to their pigeon chests, never declaring the rules—voila!Steer Karma @steerkarma • 18 Jan 08:39 GMT
@lewis_goodall As much as the unaware Brexiters seem to be celebrating this, they don't seem to know which regulation they are looking forward to losing the most.
These regulations protect standards, consumers, employees and trade with 30 other countries.
@PeterMatza @lewis_goodall My understanding of these complex issues is that just in time manufacturing which relies on components sourced across the European market is not going to be sustainable in the UK without adherence to common standards or frictionless borders. That's why Nissan is here.Cat @CathLM • 18 Jan 08:21 GMT
@CathLM @lewis_goodall Tosh. Italy is in recession, Germany almost. The UK has positive if modest growth and Brexit will see a resumption of business investment. Importers of finoshed vehicles will suffer if the EU remains intransigent.Peter Matza @PeterMatza • 18 Jan 08:17 GMT
